After a decade-long legal battle, actor Sooraj Pancholi has been acquitted in the Jiah Khan suicide case. A special CBI court cited insufficient evidence, bringing closure to a case that began in 2013 when Jiah was found dead in her home. An emotional Sooraj, who had been charged with abetment to suicide, expressed relief and thanked his supporters, stating, “The truth always wins.” Jiah’s mother, Rabia Khan, however, maintains her belief that her daughter was murdered, though repeated appeals for further investigation were dismissed.
Sooraj’s career in Bollywood has seen its share of ups and downs. He debuted in 2015 with “Hero,” a remake of the classic film, but it failed to make a mark. Subsequent projects like “Satellite Shankar” and “Time to Dance” also underperformed despite ambitious premises. Currently, he is attached to the biopic “Hawa Singh,” based on the legendary Indian boxer, though updates on the project remain scarce.
On the other hand, Jiah Khan’s short but impactful career included standout roles in films like “Nishabd,” “Ghajini,” and “Housefull”—all commercially successful. Her tragic death at 25 left a void in the industry. While justice has been served in the eyes of the law, the case continues to evoke strong emotions among fans and those closest to the late actress.
As Sooraj looks ahead, the acquittal marks a new chapter for him, but the shadow of this decade-long ordeal lingers. Whether he can revive his career remains to be seen, but for now, he can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
