Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal recently shared highlights from his productive engagements in Switzerland, where he explored exciting trade and investment opportunities under the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement. In a post on X, Goyal emphasized the potential for deeper collaborations between Indian and Swiss businesses, particularly in sectors like fintech, BFSI, and advanced manufacturing. His discussions with Swiss business leaders and officials underscored India’s growing role as a regional hub for global markets.
During his visit, Goyal met with key figures, including Swiss Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin, and toured the Swiss Parliament, where he admired lithograph paintings by renowned architect Le Corbusier. He also engaged with the newly formed ICAI Switzerland Zurich Chapter, focusing on fintech innovation and startup collaborations. Additionally, he connected with CEOs from precision engineering and pharmaceuticals, who expressed strong interest in India’s thriving ‘Make in India’ initiative and innovation ecosystem.
This visit marks a significant step in strengthening India’s economic ties with Switzerland and Sweden, two of Europe’s most dynamic economies. By fostering high-level dialogues with government officials and industry leaders, Goyal aims to unlock new pathways for trade, investment, and mutual growth—positioning India as a strategic partner in the global market.
