Housefull 5, the latest Bollywood comedy flick featuring an ensemble cast of 19 A-listers, has hit a roadblock. Despite a strong opening at the box office, the film is now mired in controversy as social media influencer Sandip Brahamin claims the makers copied his signature dance move in the song ‘Laal Pari.’ Sandip, who has 2.5M followers, shared a video comparing his original step to the one featured in the movie, expressing disappointment over the lack of credit.
The high-energy track ‘Laal Pari,’ performed by Yo Yo Honey Singh and starring Akshay Kumar, was an instant hit upon its release. However, Sandip alleges that his iconic head-shaking move, which he popularized on social media, was replicated without permission. Fans flooded his DMs, pointing out the resemblance, prompting him to call for public support to highlight the issue.
As of now, neither choreographer Remo D’Souza nor the film’s producers have responded to the allegations. The Housefull franchise, known for its over-the-top humor and star-studded casts, now faces unexpected scrutiny. Whether this controversy will impact the film’s performance remains to be seen, but it has certainly sparked a debate about originality in Bollywood.
