Toyota Kirloskar Motor has joined forces with Maharashtra’s Skill Development Department in a landmark partnership. This collaboration aims to upgrade technical training facilities across government-run Industrial Training Institutes. The initiative promises to boost skill development and employment generation significantly.
The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed at Mantralay. Cabinet Minister Shri Mangalprabhat Lodha presided over the signing ceremony. His portfolio covers Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation.
Toyota will establish advanced laboratories dedicated to the Light Motor Vehicle Technician trade. These fully functional labs will be set up in 45 ITIs across Maharashtra. They will feature modern tools and technology aligned with current industry standards.
The laboratories will dramatically enhance hands-on learning experiences for students. Nearly 8,000 students are projected to benefit from this initiative. Their employment prospects in automotive and allied sectors will improve substantially.
Toyota will also provide specialized training to ITI instructors. This ensures teaching methodologies match global automotive practices. The comprehensive approach covers both infrastructure and teaching quality.
Senior Vice President Vikramji Gulati represented Toyota Kirloskar Motor at the signing. Director Madhavi Sardeshmukh signed for the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training. Both parties expressed commitment to the partnership’s success.
Minister Lodha emphasized the state’s dedication to youth skill development. He highlighted how this partnership reflects Maharashtra’s commitment to industry-relevant training. The government sees this as a model for future collaborations.
Installation work for the new laboratories will begin within two months. Thirteen labs are scheduled to become operational by March 26. This marks the first phase of implementation.
The remaining facilities will be rolled out in three additional phases. The entire project will span five years. All 45 ITIs will eventually be covered under this initiative.
Minister Lodha envisions ITIs becoming advanced training hubs. These institutions will produce globally competitive technicians. Industry partnerships are crucial for achieving this transformation.
The modernization will integrate practical expertise into ITI curricula. Technology-driven learning and modern infrastructure will become standard. Students will gain exposure to current industry practices.
Additional Chief Secretary Smt. Manisha Verma attended the MoU signing. Joint Director Shri Satish Suryavanshi was also present. Toyota representatives included Vice President Shri Ramesh Rao.
Human Resources Manager Shri Bhaskar Pai represented Toyota’s commitment. General Manager Shri Ravi Sonatakke also participated. The diverse attendance underscored the partnership’s significance.
