Renault Boosts India’s Role in Global Automotive Innovation

Renault Group India has announced two key leadership appointments. This move strengthens India’s position as a global hub for automotive design and engineering.

The decision reflects Renault’s ambition to accelerate development in India’s dynamic automotive market. It aims to establish the country as a benchmark international hub for innovation.

This strategy enables closer cooperation with local teams. Staying connected to on-ground challenges and customer needs is crucial.

Dr. Vikraman V becomes Chief of Renault Engineering at RNTBCI in Chennai. He will lead engineering excellence and support global transformation.

His role emphasizes India’s expanding part in advanced research and development. Innovation remains central to this mission.

Dr. Vikraman joins from Mahindra & Mahindra with nearly two decades of experience. He led the Vehicle Mechanical Division there.

He brings deep expertise in both electric vehicle and internal combustion engine platforms. His academic background includes a master’s and PhD from IIT Madras.

Sandeep Bhambra is appointed Head of Renault Design Centre India. He will also continue as Chief Designer Advanced Renault.

He will shape future portfolios rooted in Renault’s design DNA while embracing forward-looking innovation. Sandeep reports to Chief Design Officer Laurens van den Acker.

CEO Stéphane Deblaise called this a transformative moment for Renault in India. He highlighted India’s emergence as a global epicentre for automotive innovation.

Sandeep’s creative leadership will elevate design identity. Vikraman’s engineering depth will drive cutting-edge mobility solutions.

Together they will position India as a creator of Renault’s future. Global design excellence and Indian ingenuity will converge.

Since 2021, Sandeep led Advanced Design and Concept Cars in France. He delivered iconic projects like the Renault 5 Turbo 3E and Scenic Vision.

His prior experience includes roles at Peugeot and Tata Motors. He contributed to both concept and production vehicles.

Sandeep brings a unique blend of engineering rigor and creative storytelling. His career spans India, the UK, and France.

Laurens van den Acker noted Sandeep’s international experience and creative vision. These assets will guide the team in India.

The Renault Design Centre Chennai is now Renault Design Centre India. This rename reflects its strategic role and India’s commitment.
