The Mumbai Police have made it clear they aren’t backing down in the case involving Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan’s stabbing. They’ve strongly opposed the bail plea of Mohammad Shariful Islam, the Bangladeshi national accused of the attack earlier this year. With solid evidence in hand, the police are determined to keep him behind bars.

Forensic reports play a crucial role in this case. The police revealed that fragments of the knife found near Saif’s spine matched the weapon recovered from Islam. Three separate pieces all pointed back to the same blade, leaving little room for doubt. This forensic link strengthens the prosecution’s argument that Islam was undoubtedly involved in the attack.

Another key concern for the police is Islam’s immigration status. Being in India illegally, they fear he might flee the country if granted bail. Given the seriousness of the crime, they argue that letting him walk free before trial would be a risk too big to take. “The crime is of a very serious nature,” the police stated, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.

Islam, however, maintains his innocence. His legal team describes the case as a “fabricated story” and argues that there’s no reason to deny bail. They point out that crucial evidence like CCTV footage and call records are already secured, eliminating concerns about tampering. Islam’s lawyer also highlighted his clean record, suggesting he wouldn’t pose a threat if released.

Despite these claims, the police remain firm. The investigation is nearly complete, with only the charge sheet left to be filed. The next court date, set for August 1, will determine whether Islam stays in custody or is granted bail. For now, he remains in Mumbai’s Arthur Road jail, awaiting the next twist in this unfolding legal drama.
