It includes some world-class structures. The Chenab Bridge in Reasi is the world’s highest railway bridge. It stands 359 meters above the riverbed.
Another marvel is the Anji Khad bridge. This is Indian Railways’ first cable-stayed bridge. Its deck is located 331 meters above the river.
The socio-economic gains extend beyond the tracks. Over 215 kilometers of approach roads were built. The project also includes a tunnel and more than 320 small bridges.

Passenger services are now fully operational. Four Vande Bharat trains run between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Srinagar. DEMU and MEMU services connect other key stations.
What does the future hold? Surveys for expansion are already complete. This includes a new 46-kilometer line from Baramulla to Uri.
Another proposal is to double 118 kilometers of track from Banihal to Baramulla. Detailed project reports for both are ready and waiting.
