Indian Railways has just made a big announcement that’s set to make festive travel smoother for millions. A record-breaking 380 Ganpati Special train trips will be operational in 2025, the highest number ever. This move ensures devotees and passengers can travel comfortably during the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities.
Back in 2023, the railways operated 305 special trips. The number saw a jump in 2024, reaching 358. But 2025 is breaking all previous records, reflecting the growing demand for convenient travel during the festival season.
Central Railway is leading the charge with 296 services, catering to Maharashtra and the Konkan region, where festive travel demand is especially high. Western Railway will run 56 trips, Konkan Railway (KRCL) plans 6, and South Western Railway will operate 22 Ganpati Special trips.
For those traveling via Konkan Railway, the special trains will make halts at key locations including Kolad, Indapur, Mangaon, Ratnagiri, Kudal, and several others. This ensures accessibility for devotees across multiple regions.
Ganpati Puja in 2025 will be celebrated from August 27 to September 6. To manage the expected rush, Ganpati Special trains have already started running from August 11, with services increasing as the festival nears. This phased approach helps accommodate travelers efficiently.
