In a significant move to boost rural employment and skill development, Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL) has joined forces with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to launch Project SAKSHAM. The initiative aims to empower youth, women, and smallholder farmers in three key districts of India. The MoU signing ceremony took place at NSDC Headquarters in New Delhi, with key officials from both organizations in attendance.
Project SAKSHAM is part of HURL’s Corporate Environmental Responsibility (CER) program. It will focus on Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, Begusarai in Bihar, and Dhanbad in Jharkhand. These locations were carefully chosen after a skill gap analysis involving public and private stakeholders. The goal is to align training programs with industry needs to maximize employability.
The project targets 2,265 individuals from low-income families. It will provide job-ready skills and self-employment opportunities. The training will be tailored to meet local demands, ensuring participants can either secure jobs or start their own ventures. Additionally, beneficiaries will gain access to government schemes and long-term ecosystem support for sustained growth.
Dr. S.P. Mohanty, Managing Director of HURL, emphasized the transformative potential of Project SAKSHAM. He described it as more than just a training program—it’s a mission to uplift rural communities. By equipping participants with practical skills, HURL and NSDC hope to turn aspirations into tangible achievements.
This collaboration is a step toward realizing the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat. It highlights HURL’s commitment to socio-economic development in rural India. Through skill-building, the initiative aims to create lasting impact and strengthen local economies. With industry-aligned training and strong ecosystem linkages, Project SAKSHAM could be a game-changer for thousands.
The program’s success will depend on effective implementation and sustained engagement. Both HURL and NSDC have stressed the importance of continuous support to ensure participants thrive in their chosen fields. By focusing on employability and self-reliance, the project aligns with broader national development goals.
