Ganpati Visarjan is observed on the tenth day of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. This final day concludes on Anant Chaturdashi after a vibrant celebration filled with devotion and joy. The immersion ceremony symbolizes Lord Ganesha’s return to his celestial abode.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar performed Anant Chaturthi pooja at Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple in Pune. He was accompanied by his wife during this significant religious ceremony. Their participation highlighted the importance of this spiritual occasion.
Ganesh Chaturthi is also known as Vinayak Chaturthi or Vinayak Chavithi. This festival worships Lord Ganesha as the God of new beginnings and remover of obstacles. The ten day Ganeshotsav celebrations began on August 27 with great enthusiasm.

Lalbaugcha Raja represents one of Mumbai’s most iconic Ganesh idols. It has been central to the city’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations for decades. Hosted by the Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, the pandal draws lakhs of devotees annually.
Mumbai Police has made extensive preparations for Ganpati Visarjan. Their arrangements include installation of CCTVs and public address systems. They have deployed lifeguards and barricaded 65 natural spots and 205 ponds.
Joint Police Commissioner Satyanarayan Chaudhary addressed a press conference on Friday. He revealed that immersion of around 6500 community mandal Ganpatis would occur. Over 1.5 lakh household Ganpatis will also be immersed during the ceremony.
Police deployment includes 10 additional commissioner rank officers. There will be 40 DCP rank officers and 3000 inspector rank officers. 15,000 constables will ensure smooth proceedings throughout the city.
Security forces include 14 companies of SRPF and 4 companies of CAPF. Three teams for riot control, QRT, and BDDS have also been deployed. These measures aim to maintain peace and order during the large scale event.
For surveillance, 10,000 CCTV cameras operate across Mumbai. Women police will be deployed in uniform and plain clothes for safety. Authorities will use AI for crowd monitoring during the Ganpati Visarjan.
The Police Control Room number 112 remains operational for citizens needing help. Prohibitory orders have been issued against photography of immersed idols. Circulating such images on social media and drone usage in prohibited areas is banned.
