The trailer for Anupam Kher’s upcoming directorial venture, *Tanvi The Great*, has taken the internet by storm. With its moving narrative and powerful performances, the film has garnered praise from Bollywood heavyweights like Shah Rukh Khan and Anil Kapoor. The story of a young autistic woman aspiring to join the Indian Army has struck a chord, making it one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
Shah Rukh Khan took to X (formerly Twitter) to applaud Kher’s bold vision. “To my friend @AnupamPKher who has always taken chances… whether it’s acting, filmmaking or life!! The trailer of #TanviTheGreat is looking awesome. All the best on this journey!!” he wrote. Kher reciprocated the warmth, reposting SRK’s message with a heartfelt “Thank you, my dearest friend, for your love and appreciation.”
Anil Kapoor was equally moved. Calling the film “powerful, heartfelt, and deeply inspiring,” he added, “Some stories stay with you long after the screen fades to black… #TanviTheGreat is one of them.” His post radiated excitement for the film’s potential impact.
*Tanvi The Great* isn’t just winning hearts in India. It premiered globally at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, where it received a standing ovation. The film also screened at the New York Indian Film Festival, Houston, and Austin, drawing significant attention. Notably, Hollywood legend Robert De Niro attended its New York gala screening, adding to the film’s growing international acclaim.
Anupam Kher, in an interview with ANI, shared that the film is about rekindling human goodness. “We all believe in goodness… but situations have made us forget it,” he said. “When people watch this film, those original emotions return.” He emphasized that the film’s success lies in its universal appeal, touching on the underrepresentation of individuals with autism.
The film introduces Shubhangi Dutt in her debut role as Tanvi Raina, a young autistic woman determined to honour her late father’s dream of saluting the Indian flag at Siachen. Her journey challenges societal norms and institutional barriers, making for an emotionally gripping narrative. Dutt, who never expected her first film to be a socially driven drama, said, “Even ten years from now, I don’t think anything can match *Tanvi The Great*. This will always be special.”
Adding to the star power, veterans like Jackie Shroff, Boman Irani, Pallavi Joshi, and Karan Tacker feature in pivotal roles. The music, composed by Oscar winner M. M. Keeravani, further elevates the film’s emotional depth. Produced by Anupam Kher Studios in collaboration with NFDC, the film’s global distribution is managed by Excel Entertainment and AA Films.
Mark your calendars – *Tanvi The Great* is set to hit theatres nationwide on July 18, 2025. With such overwhelming early acclaim, it’s gearing up to be a milestone in Indian cinema.
