The Allahabad High Court has put a hold on the arrest of cricketer Yash Dayal in a sexual harassment case, raising pointed questions about the timeline of the allegations. “You could have been fooled for a day, 2 days, 3 days…but 5 years…you are into a relationship for 5 years…one can’t be fooled for 5 years,” the bench remarked during the hearing.

Yash Dayal, who currently plays for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), had filed a petition challenging an FIR accusing him of sexual exploitation under false promises of marriage. The complaint was lodged by a woman at Indirapuram Police Station in Ghaziabad on July 6, 2025, under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with sexual relations by deception.

The division bench, consisting of Justices Siddharth Verma and Anil Kumar, issued a notice to the opposing party and sought their response. The complainant alleged that she had been in a relationship with Dayal for five years before filing the case.

Dayal’s lawyer, Gaurav Tripathi, confirmed that the court granted interim relief by staying the arrest. “The petition challenged the validity of the FIR. The court has issued notices, and the next hearing is expected in 4-6 weeks,” he stated.

The case has drawn attention not just for its legal implications but also because of Dayal’s rising profile in cricket. Known for his left-arm pace bowling, he has been a key player for RCB in recent seasons. The court’s remarks hint at skepticism regarding the delayed complaint, but the legal process will unfold further only after the complainant’s side presents its arguments.

This development leaves fans and legal observers waiting to see how the case progresses. For now, Yash Dayal continues to enjoy protection from arrest, allowing him to focus on his cricketing career while the matter remains sub judice.
