Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has once again raised serious allegations against the Election Commission, accusing it of failing to uphold the principle of ‘one man, one vote’. Speaking to reporters in the Parliament House complex, Gandhi claimed that irregularities in voter lists are happening systematically across multiple seats.

“Abhi picture baki hai,” Gandhi said, hinting at more revelations to come. He emphasized that the Congress party is committed to protecting the Constitution and will not back down.

Gandhi pointed to the case of Minta Devi, a 124-year-old woman allegedly listed as a first-time voter in Bihar, as evidence of larger issues. He stated that there are countless such cases with fake names and addresses.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra echoed these concerns, highlighting the prevalence of fraudulent entries in voter lists. The opposition has been vocal about these alleged discrepancies, staging protests both inside and outside Parliament.

Earlier this week, MPs from the INDIA bloc parties gathered near Parliament’s Makar Dwar, wearing white T-shirts with Minta Devi’s name and photo printed on them. The back of the shirts read ‘124 Not Out,’ mocking the absurdity of the situation.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and other opposition leaders joined the protest, demanding a rollback of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar. They accused the Election Commission of favoring the BJP, claiming that the voter list is riddled with fraud.

Manickam Tagore, a Congress MP, went as far as calling the EC a “department of the BJP,” alleging blatant partisanship. The opposition has been relentless in pushing for a discussion on these issues, but little progress has been made due to repeated adjournments in Parliament.

The Monsoon session has seen minimal legislative activity, with protests and disruptions taking center stage. On Monday, Rahul Gandhi, Kharge, and Sharad Pawar led a march to the Election Commission office, only to be stopped by the police. The opposition shows no signs of backing down, promising more revelations and continued resistance.
